Our high school is located in Valcea county, at 200 km North from Bucharest, the capital of Romania , in a small town,Calimanesti (urban area)- 9000 inhabitants, 18 km away from Ramnicu Valcea, the biggest town in our area( county) . The place is surrounded by mountains, a famous mountain resort in Romania whose main activity is Tourism,Thermal Spa treatment with more than 160.000 tourists every year ( Foreigners and from Romania).
Tehnological/Vocational High School of Tourism has about 400 students ( 14-19 years old and 2 post-secondary school classes for adults-) , Primary and secondary school and kindergarden classes , 110 teachers and instructors; 50 students from Romma families, 40 students with special needs ( early school leaving, learning difficulties, physical disabilities or behavioural problems), children from monoparental family ( father or mother or both working abroad in another country) , many students are forced to work during the school to have money ( poor condition). Most of them must face the problem of adaptation and peer bullying due to these facts and also they threaten or intimidate their collegues.
Specializations : -High School: Financial and economic activities ( Accounting) ,Tourism, Hotels and Catering, Natural sciences
-Vocational school: Waiters and Chefs –in Gastronomy and Hotel field , Banqueting ( events planner)
-Post secondary school of agro-mountain activities
Our main goals are: to become more recognizable in the local community and at the national and european level by:
-providing personal and professional development for students in order to become active citizens in the community, participate in working,civic,professional life, ensuring equal opportunities of access to vocational and technical education and professional development of each student based on aspirations and individual learning potential;
-ensuring quality conditions in organization and conduct of management processes, education and training in each school organizing vocational and technical education
-providing opportunities for professional development of each student to acquire the skills for which give employment opportunities in trades or occupations offered by the local labor market, county, regional, national, and to continue learning throughout life, to adapt to technological changes specific knowledge economy
-providing community education and training opportunities for students to areas of great interest: hotels, services, financial,economic activities,gastronomy,-. Actions of great responsibility and quality, we pursue learning needs for graduates to integrate professional activities and achieve high performance standards of the European Union;
– reducing social and specific needs differences , fighting against the violence and bullying in school
Our institution has experience in developing and implementing educational projects and partnerships of various kinds and in particular those with European financing,; The last project won the prize II ( exhibition and presentation) for the best Romanian Erasmus project in our country to the contest Made for Europe 2019.
